It is going to be an extremely busy year for SUV maker Mahindra as the company prepares to roll out new models in the country in 2015. The auto lovers in the country have already heard plenty about the Mahindra's upcoming new compact SUV S101 and new-generation Bolero and now the latest one coming our way is XUV500 facelift.
The facelift of XUV500 was caught on camera earlier, but the latest one comes from Rushlane reader Satish who snapped the test mule in Chennai. From the images it looks like XCV500 is not in for a dramatic facelift, except for a few changes like new tail lamps and reworked front bumper. The test mule was spotted sans camouflage and in the images, the side profile, particularly the door handles of the XUV500, also seemed to be undergoing changes.
Previous spy shots of the facelift XUV500 indicated that the new avatar of the car is also likely to get new alloy wheel design. Inside the cabin too, the XUV500 facelift is expected to receive minor tweaks. The car will rival Tata Safari Storme and Renault Duster in the Indian market.
As for the engine, XUV 500 is expect to pack the same 2.2-litre four-cylinder mHawk diesel mill under the hood, which currently generates a power of 140 bhp at 3,750 rpm and a peak torque of 330 Nm at 1,600-2,800 rpm. There have also been rumours that the engine could be tweaked to give improved fuel efficiency. It is not clear yet when Mahindra will launch the facelifted avatar of XUV500, however rumour mills indicate a mid-2015 launch.
Speaking of Mahindra's other models which are lined up for 2015 launch, Mahindra S101; a sub-four metre vehicle is expected to get a price tag around ₹4 lakh. As for the features, the SUV is likely to get anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, four airbags, and an electronic stability programme.
