Mahindra and Mahindra has announced the launch of the automatic version of its XUV500 in India on Wednesday (25 November) with a price tag of Rs 15.53 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Launched in three variants -- W8, W10 and W10 (AWD), Mahindra XUV500 Automatic uses different gearbox from the Scorpio automatic. The XUV500 Automatic comes paired with a new 6-speed automatic gearbox developed by Japan's Aisin Seiki, which will also be shared with the upcoming Ssangyong SUVs. The gearbox features in-built hill start assist, manual mode and creep function.
Apart from the change in the gearbox, XUV500 remain the same as the current model and comes powered by the same 2.2-litre mHawk engine that produces 140bhp at 3750rpm and 330Nm of torque in the range of 1,600-2,800rpm.
The Mahindra XUV500 will compete against the Hyundai Creta diesel, which is also available in automatic transmission.
