Utility vehicle major of India Mahindra & Mahindra released sketch image of the XUV Aero coupe SUV concept that will have its public debut at the Auto Expo 2016, which is starting from 3 February.
The show car for this year's Auto Expo, the XUV Aero coupe SUV concept is reportedly the most expensive design study from Mahindra. The concept has been designed by Mahindra's in house team comprising a 45-member team headed by 45-year-old Ramkripa Ananthan with inputs from Pininfarina, the Italian car-styling company acquired by Mahindra recently, reports Economic Times.
Mahindra has stressed on the design in XUV Aero coupe SUV. "Indian customers like little bit of flamboyance; it would be a little bit over the top. Some experts may say M&M has gone overboard; I would say, yes M&M has gone overboard by design and not by accident," Dr. Pawan Goenka, Executive Director of Mahindra & Mahindra, told ET.
Judging by the sketch image, the SUV coupe will have the most aggressive design. It is widely considered as the XUV Aero concept and also throws some light on the design of future, production-spec, flagship model for the Indian manufacturer. The design sketch features flared wheel arches, massive wheel well and a high-positioned rear end.
Mahindra will also setup a design studio at the Auto Expo 2016 that will explain what went into the making of XUV Aero. Apart from the XUV Aero, Mahindra will showcase close to 20 vehicles ranging from two-wheelers to trucks. Among them, E2O Sports version with wireless charging is expected to be a showstopper. Mahindra Verito and Maxximo with electric powertrain, heavily customised TUV300 SUV and Tivoli from SsangYong subsidiary are the other leading cars to be showcased by Mahindra.
