Home-grown UV maker Mahindra and Mahindra had showcased XUV Aero concept at the Auto Expo earlier this year and had hinted later that the concept may make it to production if there is demand. Now, if the emerging reports are anything to go by, the Mahindra XUV Aero could see the light of the day in its production guise in 2018.
It is being said that Mahindra is evaluating the market for a coupe SUV in India and might work on the XUV Aero if found the potential. Dr Pawan Goenka, executive director, M&M had also earlier expressed the interest to make it into production.
The XUV Aero coupe SUV concept has been conceptualised and designed at Mahindra's Design studio in Mumbai, with inputs from Italian design firm Pininfarina. The XUV Aero coupe, which was a head-turner at the Auto show, could be a premium offering of Mahindra in India. The coupe would sit above the company's current line-up and is likely to be priced around Rs 20 lakh.
The Aero XUV coupe concept that was shown at the Auto Expo boasts an aggressive stance with bold graphics and headlights with LED DRLs and features prominent shoulder lines.
Under the hood, the XUV Aero is expected to get Mahindra's 2.2-litre mHawk engine, which can dish out 210bhp of power. The XUV Aero concept comes with drive and suspension modes -- Race, Off-Road, Street and Sport.
