If emerging reports on the web are to be believed, Mahindra Two Wheelers will be expanding its 125cc scooter product range in the country soon. The company is reportedly readying a 125cc model of its Gusto that would mark its market entry this year.
A report of IndianCars Bikes, citing sources close to the development revealed that the new Gusto 125cc scooter that is currently in its final stage of development is almost ready to make its debut. Although it is not clear whether the Gusto 125 model will be getting power from the same 125cc engine that does duty in Mahindra Rodeo and Duro, the rumours indicate a power and torque in the range of 10 PS and 10Nm respectively.
In terms of styling, the upcoming 125cc model is expected to have a strong resemblance to the existing 110cc Gusto model. However, to distinguish the model from the current version, Gusto 125cc is likely to get a re-styled front apron, alloy wheels and front disc brake. The features like flip key, "find-me" lights and the height-adjustable seat are also likely to be found in the Gusto 125.
If this rings true, Gusto 125 will be poised to challenge the current segment front-runners like Honda Activa 125 and Suzuki Swish 125.
Apparently, Hero is also working on a 125 version dubbed Maestro Edge. Reports have indicated that Maestro Edge will be powered by an air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that can generate about 1bhp more than the current Maestro version.
