Mahindra & Mahindra's TUV300 compact SUV will get more powerful diesel engine, according to the latest reports. The utility vehicle specialist will launch the TUV300 with mHawk100 engine on May 12, Overdrive reports.
Mahindra TUV300 is presently offered with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder mHawk80 diesel engine that develops 84bhpof power at 3,750rpm and 230Nm of torque at 1,500 rpm mated to either a five-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. This engine will be replaced with the more advanced mHawk100 engine that develops 100bhp of power and 240Nm of peak torque.
This engine has been borrowed from the company's newly-launched NuvoSport SUV. The power of the TUV300 will be increased by 16bhp. On the flip side, the fuel efficiency may go down. The TUV300 with current mHawk80 engine comes with a claimed fuel efficiency of 18.47kmpl.
Launched in September 2015, the TUV300 marks the beginning of Mahindra's compact SUV tide in the country. The car maker now has TUV300, KUV100, and NuvoSport in the compact SUV space. The positive response that TUV300 received from buyers prompted the company to increase production in November last year.
Priced in the range of Rs. 7.36 lakh to Rs. 9.64 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, Mahindra TUV300 is offered in three variants — TUV300 T4, TV300 T6 and TUV300 T8. The SUV is available in six body colour options — red, black, orange, silver, blue and white.
