In what appears to be good news about the arrival of the Mahindra SsangYong Tivoli, a test mule of the compact SUV has been spied undergoing tests in India. Although SsangYong Tivoli was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 in February, Mahindra did not divulge the launch plans of the model in India.
The last we heard about the launch of the Tivoli is that the compact SUV would see the light of the day in the country in the end of 2016. Adding credence to this is the new set of images of the Tivoli from Motor Vikatan undergoing tests in Southern part of India. From the images, the compact SUV is seen carefully camouflaged, thus not revealing any key details of the model.
It was reported earlier that Mahindra is studying the feasibility of adding Tivoli to its Indian portfolio. The Tivoli, a global compact SUV is powered by 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines. While the four-cylinder petrol unit develops 126bhp at 6000rpm and 160Nm of torque, the diesel unit can churn out 113bhp at 3400-4000rpm and 300Nm at 1500-2500rpm. Both the engines are mated to six-speed manual and Aisin six-speed automatic transmission. The India-specific model is rumoured to get a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, mHawk80 diesel that powers the TUV300.
The compact SUV measures 4,195mm in length, 1,795mm in width and 1,590mm in height, with the wheelbase of 2600mm. On the safety front, it gets airbags including a driver's knee airbag, curtain airbag, and side airbags.
