It looks like Mahindra is planning to bring the SsangYong Tivoli compact SUV to the Indian market soon. SsangYong Tivoli, which was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 in February, is currently undergoing tests on the Indian roads.
A fresh batch of spy images of the Tivoli has started doing the rounds on the internet, hinting at the imminent arrival of the model. Caught on camera by Motoroids, the new images of the compact SUV have nothing new to reveal as the test mule has been camouflaged carefully. However, repeated sightings of the model is a good sign that says the launch is not far off.
The compact SUV, which measures 4,195mm in length, 1,795mm in width and 1,590mm in height, with the wheelbase of 2600mm in terms of dimension is expected to get safety features such as airbags including a driver's knee airbag, curtain airbag, and side airbags.
Powering the Tivoli in the global market is 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines. While the four-cylinder petrol unit develops 126bhp at 6000rpm and 160Nm of torque, the diesel unit can churn out 113bhp at 3400-4000rpm and 300Nm at 1500-2500rpm. Both the engines are mated to six-speed manual and Aisin six-speed automatic transmission. The India-specific model is rumoured to get a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, mHawk80 diesel that powers the TUV300.
The Tivoli will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Nissan Terrano and Hyundai Creta in India and is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 10 to Rs. 14 lakh.
