Home-grown automaker Mahindra has announced the launch of the automatic variant of its new Scorpio in India.
Scorpio AT has been priced between Rs 13.13 lakh and Rs 14.33 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and the model will be available in the top-end S10 variant of the SUV Scorpio. The Automatic variant is offered in both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions.
Visually, the automatic version of Scorpio wears the same body kit and the style of the current model in the market, except for the 'automatic' badging. Under the hood, the new AT variant of Scorpio packs the same 2.2l mHawk diesel engine, which is tuned to pump in 120 PS power @ 4000 rpm and 280 Nm torque between 1800 to 2800 rpm with an automatic six-speed gearbox.
"At Mahindra, it is our constant endeavour to make advanced technology more accessible and affordable to our customers," PTI quoted M&M president & chief executive (automotive) Pravin Shah. He further said, "In fact, the Scorpio was the first Indian SUV to launch an Automatic transmission in 2008 and, now, we offer our customers an automatic option on Scorpio's New Generation Platform."
