Popular UV maker Mahindra, which launched its new Scorpio SUV last year, is now preparing to bring the automatic version of the model in the country.
Mahindra Scorpio Automatic has been caught on camera earlier too and the latest spy shots come from the folks at MotorOctane who report that the model will make its India debut around April-May this year.
Judging from the images, visually, the automatic version of Scorpio wears the same body kit and the style of the current model in the market, except for the 'automatic' badging at the rear. From what we hear, Mahindra is likely to offer this only for the top variants of the Scorpio- S10.
Under the hood, the new variant of Scorpio is expected to pack the same 2.2l mHawk diesel engine, which is tuned to pump in 120 PS power @ 4000 rpm and 280 Nm torque between 1800 to 2800 rpm with an automatic six-speed gearbox. As for the pricing, the new automatic Scorpio is expected to get a price tag of around ₹1 lakh higher than the current model.
Currently, the base variant of the Scorpio is powered by the 2.5-liter 4 cylinder m2DiCr diesel engine, which can churn out a power of 75bhp @3,200rpm and a peak torque of 195Nm @1,400-2,200rpm, coupled to 5 speed manual transmissions and the other models are powered by 2.2 litre mHawk engine.
Mahindra is also expected to launch the automatic variant of its XUV500.
