A new prototype of Mahindra's upcoming S101 has been snapped once again in Chennai ahead of its possible launch in the country later this year.
Mahindra has been testing its new S101 SUV for quite a while now; and the latest spy shots come from Indian Autos Blog reader Mohamed Shahid who spotted the test mule in Chennai during its usual test rounds.
The latest spy shots show the test mule of S101 covered in thick black camouflage; thus, not giving any clear hint on the design and style of the model.
According to web reports, S101 is a sub-four metre compact SUV that is built on a new monocoque platform and is likely to draw power from the company's new engine line-up. As we already know, Mahindra is readying seven new engines to power its future vehicles. The engines include 1.2 litre diesel and petrol motors, 1.6 litre diesel and petrol units, 1.5-litre diesel and there is also 1.5 litre petrol and a 1.0-litre petrol engine. Although there have been rumours about an AMT variant for the S101, nothing has been confirmed as yet.
Moving further, the S101 is likely to get 3+3 seating configuration with bench type seat in the front. The features speculated include anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, four airbags, and electronic stability programme. Mahindra S101 is likely to make its market debut in the second half of this year, with a price tag around ₹5 lakh.
