Yet another test mule of Mahindra's upcoming compact SUV, codenamed S101, has been snapped, this time showing the model in its production guise.
Caught on camera by Mohamed Shahid Hussain, a reader of Indian Autos Blog, in the latest images, the prototype of S101 has shed its bulky camouflage quite a bit, revealing the outline of the model. The images show the production head lights of the new SUV S101 along with the front grille.
Mahindra has been testing its S101 on the Indian roads for quite a while now. Caught on camera countless times, Mahindra S101 -- which is supposedly called KUV100 -- is based on monocoque-platform.
The powerplant of S101 is expected to include 1.2 diesel and petrol mills. While the petrol mill of the Mahindra S101 is likely to be an all-new engine developed by the company, the diesel mill could be the watered-down version of 1.5-litre mHawk engine that powers the company's recently-launched TUV300.
As for transmissions, in S101, the engines are likely to come mated to either a 5-speed manual or an automated manual transmissions (AMT).
Mahindra S101, the six-seater model with SUV-like traits, is expected to get a 3+3 seating configuration with bench-type seat in the front. The sub-four metre mini-SUV from Mahindra is speculated to accommodate features such as anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, four airbags and an electronic stability programme.
Expected to be pitted against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Wagon R in India, Mahindra S101 is likely to come with an affordable price tag in the range of around Rs 4.5 lakh. Mahindra is expected to launch this new S101 SUV this fiscal year.
