Mahindra is still working on its compact SUV S101 as fresh spy shots of the model emerge online. It has been testing the SUV on Indian roads for quite some time now.
The model has already made numerous appearances on the web and the latest batch spy shots come from the folks at Exhaustvid.com who caught the car on test in Chennai.
Like in earlier spy shots, it is still hard to tell much from the spy shots as it is seen heavily camouflaged, thus hiding the key details. But the repeated sightings of the model on the road tell us that Mahindra is working hard to make its SUV the best one.
Mahindra S101, the sub-four metre model is expected to make its India entry next year and is likely to get a price tag in the affordable range.
Under the hood, S101 is likely to get Mahindra's newly developed engines. From what we have heard, S101 would get power from the new 1.2 litre petrol engine, which is expected to churn out 80bhp.
Mahindra's new engine line-up includes 1.2 litre diesel and petrol motors, 1.6 litre diesel and petrol units, 1.5-litre diesel and there is also 1.5 litre petrol and a 1.0-litre petrol engine.
As for the features, expect S101 SUV to host features like anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, four airbags and electronic stability programme.
In 2015, Mahindra will also be launching its next generation Bolero, a Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) besides a facelift of XUV500 in India.
The upcoming Bolero, which is codenamed U301 is expected to come with features like a larger screen infotainment system, newly styled dashboard with a central console, a three-spoke steering wheel and rectangular AC vents. Under the hood, this vehicle is also likely to get new engines of Mahindra.
On the other hand, the XUV500 facelift is likely to pack the same 2.2-litre four-cylinder mHawk diesel mill under the hood, which currently generates a power of 140bhp at 3,750rpm and a peak torque of 330Nm at 1,600-2,800rpm. Changes are expected in terms of the front and rear styling and the new alloy wheel design.
