Mahindra, the popular SUV maker, has been actively testing its upcoming compact SUV codenamed S101 and now the SUV has been snapped once again while it was being tested out on public roads, this time alongside Maruti's popular hatchback Swift.

Scheduled to break its cover sometime next year, Mahindra S101 SUV will be built on a new monocoque platform.

Seen here is the SUV alongside its indirect competitor Swift, giving us a good idea of the size of the upcoming Mahindra vehicle. We already know that Mahindra's S101 would be a sub-four-metre car and the vehicle would fall in the price range of the range of ₹5-7 lakh.

In the latest pictures taken by the folks at CarDekho, the SUV is still seen hiding under camouflage, thus not giving us any clue or info of the styling and design elements of the new SUV.

However, the previous reports have indicated that the new S101 SUV is likely to get bench-type seating arrangement at the front for three and the vehicle is likely to host features like auto climate-control, steering-mounted buttons for infotainment system.

On the safety front, the vehicle is expected to get anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, four airbags and electronic stability programme.

Under the hood, Mahindra S101 will be getting a new engine from its latest line-up. The company is in advanced stages of developing new engines, which includes 1.2 litre diesel and petrol motors, 1.6 litre diesel and petrol units, and a 1.5-litre diesel and there is also 1.5 litre petrol and a 1.0-litre petrol engine, which will power the future vehicles.

Mahindra S101 will get 1.2 litre petrol engine, which is expected to churn out 80bhp. In India, the SUV will compete with Ford EcoSport and upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.
