A new prototype of Mahindra's S101 Comapct SUV crossover has been spied undergoing tests in the country, suggesting that the model is ready to go on the production line.
Snapped by TheCarnBikeMag via Indiancarsbikes in Bangalore, the new prototype is seen heavily camouflaged and from the images, it looks like the test mule is in its production ready guise. Although the thick black camo does the adequate job of hiding the prototype from the eagle-eyed spy photographers, a closer look will reveal quite a few details. The test mule was wearing production ready LED tail lamps, and the S101 looks very close to being ready to go into production.
Auto lovers in India have seen enough spy shots of Mahindra S101 SUV, but the latest one is probably the first set of spy shots of production ready version. The images reveal the LED tail lamps and overall body proportion of the model.
For the uninitiated, S101 is a sub-four metre compact SUV from the house of Mahindra designed to rival Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster in India. Built on a new monocoque platform, S101 will see the light of day in 2015.
Under the hood, Mahindra's new SUV is expected to carry Mahindra's newly-developed engines. Mahindra's new engine line-up includes 1.2 litre diesel and petrol motors, 1.6 litre diesel and petrol units, 1.5-litre diesel and there is also 1.5 litre petrol and a 1.0-litre petrol engine.
The previous spy shots have indicated the presence of features like anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, four airbags and electronic stability programme and the interiors of the model is likely to draw clues from Mahindra XUV500.
