Another prototype of Mahindra's upcoming compact SUV S101 has been spied testing on Indian roads, this time in Leh, Ladakh.
Expected to reach Indian auto market next year, the new sub-four metre compact SUV has been caught testing in various cities. The latest test mule of the Mahindra S101 was caught testing in Leh by the folks at My Fiat World and the SUV is seen under heavy camouflage.
From a visual stand point, Mahindra's new SUV is expected to get an aggressive look. In the cabin, the vehicle will accommodate features like auto climate-control, steering-mounted buttons for infotainment system.
The safety features like Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, four airbags and Electronic Stability Programme are also expected to make into the new Mahindra SUV.
Under the hood, Mahindra S101 Compact SUV is rumoured to feature Mahindra's newly developed 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and 1.5-litre three-cylinder mCR100 unit.
Although the spy photographers have caught this new SUV on test numerous times, Mahindra has diligently kept all its car future plans under wraps.
However, rumours suggest that the Mahindra's new sub-four meter SUV would get a price tag ranging from ₹5-7 lakh range. In India, the car would take on the likes of with Ford EcoSport and upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.
Apart from this new SUV, Mahindra is also expected to launch a facelift of its Scorpio and next generation Bolero (codenamed U301) in the country.
Mahindra Scorpio Facelift is expected to reach the market during this festive season. The Scorpio SUV, which has been spied testing on Indian roads earlier is likely to carry over the same 2.2 litre four-cylinder turbo-charged mHawk diesel engine, seen in the current model and is expected to get 120 bhp power and 290 Nm torque.
The engine is likely to come synchronised to six-speed automatic transmission to deliver better performance. The features expected on the new Scorpio model include automatic climate control, rectangular design central consoles, AC vents, steering-mounted controls for audio and cruise control.
