If the latest reports are anything to go by, popular UV-maker Mahindra is readying an elongated model of the TUV300, which would see the light of the day sometime in 2017. Codenamed U108, the extended version of the TUV300 is likely to be monikered TUV500.

IndianAutosBlog has shared a rendered image of the U108, which is likely to be built on the same hydroformed ladder frame platform of the TUV300. The new SUV is speculated to be a full-grown seven-seater utility vehicle with the same body styling of the TUV300.

Other details about the models are scanty at this point of time. However, the word around the internet suggests that the UV-maker could introduce new features to differentiate it from the TUV300. Powering the TUV500 is likely to be a 2.2L or 1.9L mHawk diesel motor either with manual transmission or automated manual transmissions (AMT).

Mahindra launched the battle tank inspired sub-four metre SUV TUV300 in India in September. Powered by a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, mHawk80 diesel engine, which is tuned to churn out 84bhp power and 230Nm torque, the TUV300 comes with either a five-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. The TUV300 is the first SUV in its segment to get AMT boxes and is offered in three variants -- TUV300 T4, TV300 T6 and TUV300 T8.
