It has been a while since we heard anything about Mahindra's upcoming LCV codenamed P601. Now here comes a fresh batch image of the LCV, suggesting that the work is progressing at a rapid pace.
The latest spy shots come from the folks at Indian autos Blog and as usual the test mule is seen hiding under heavy camouflage, thus not giving away any key details of the P601. Expected to make its India debut this year, Mahindra P601 will be positioned between Gio and Maxximo and the engine line-up of the model is likely to include two cylinder 909cc diesel motor.
The previous spy shots have suggested that the new LCV is likely to borrow design cues from Gio and Maxximo and is likely to feature dumbbell-shaped headlamps. The LCV is likely to have two wheelbases for different payload range with an estimated payload capacity of 600-750kg and inside, the vehicle is likely to get dashboard-mounted gear lever.
Meanwhile, Mahindra continues testing its other models new generation Bolero and a compact SUV S101 in India, which are also lined up for this year.
Riding on a hydroformed ladder-frame chassis, the new generation Bolero is likely to accommodate features like a larger screen U301, infotainment system, newly styled dashboard with a central console, a three-spoke steering wheel and rectangular AC vents.
On the other hand, S101, the sub-four metre compact SUV is based on an all-new monocoque platform and is speculated to get features like anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, four airbags and electronic stability programme.
