Work on Mahindra's upcoming LCV codenamed P601 seems to be going at a rapid pace as the company continues to test the model on Indian roads. The latest set spy pics of P60, which came from Chennai, give a clear picture of the styling and the design of the LCV.
Spotted by IndianAutos Blog reader Ram, the test mule of P601 LCV appears to be ready to go into the production. The test mule is still seen with significant amount of camouflage, but one can figure out the outline and design of the LCV.
Expected to reach Indian market in 2015, Mahindra new LCV is likely to get dumbell shaped headlamps. The vehicle will be positioned between Gio and Maxximo and from the spy shots we have seen so far, the LCV P601 takes design cues from Maxximo and Gio. Inside, the vehicle is likely to get dashboard mounted gear lever level.
Under the hood, the LCV is likely to get two cylinder 909cc diesel motor, but there are rumours that a new motor could also make be featured. Earlier reports had said that the LCV is likely to have two wheelbases for different payload range with an estimated payload capacity of 600–750 kg.
Apart from the LCV, Mahindra will also be launching its new generation Bolero and a compact SUV S101 in 2015. From what we have heard so far, the new generation Bolero will be riding on a hydroformed ladder-frame chassis and is likely to accommodate features like a larger screen infotainment system, newly styled dashboard with a central console, a three-spoke steering wheel and rectangular AC vents.
On the other hand, Mahindra S101, a sub-four metre vehicle is expected to get features like anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, four airbags and electronic stability programme.
