Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd has revealed the name and images of its upcoming SUV NuvoSport. The Nuvosport is the completely reworked version of the Quanto compact SUV, and will be launched April 4.
The NuvoSport has been designed and developed in-house by the Mahindra design team, while the research and development of the vehicle has been carried out at the Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai. The new SUV features a smaller grille and a pair of large headlamps in a different design. The eyebrow-styled daytime running lamps, the hood scoop and a larger air dam add sportiness to the overall design. The Nuvosport also features plastic cladding and new alloy wheels. Its rear remains largely untouched while clear-lens tail lamps add a bit of freshness.
"Being a customer centric organization we identified a need gap in the market and designed the NuvoSport to meet the needs of those customers who lead an active lifestyle and are looking for a sporty and fun to drive SUV. I am sure that with the addition of the NuvoSport, we will further consolidate our leadership in the SUV segment and effectively address the entire gamut of customer segments across price points ranging all the way from 4.5 lakh to 25 lakh, [sic]" said Pravin Shah, President & Chief Executive (Automotive), M&M Ltd in a statement.
Details on the NuvoSport's powertrains is under the wraps now. It is believed the Nuvosport's petrol mill will be a 1.2-litre mHawk 100 engine while the diesel unit will be the Quanto's 1.5-litre three-cylinder, which can pump 100bhp and 240Nm. Apart from the standard five-speed manual transmission for both engines, the petrol models may also debut with the AMT box.
