A couple of prototypes of Mahindra's upcoming new gen Bolero, codenamed U301, have been caught on camera testing in Kerala with the production headlight.
Snapped by Motorbeam readers Jobu George, Amal Keezhillam and Julian Bennet, the heavy disguise on the U301 is seen hiding almost all the key features of the model. However, a closer look at the model will reveal the boxy design along with the headlight and the new front grille.
The interior shots of the new gen Bolero are of very bad quality, but it looks like Mahindra is preparing an upmarket sporty interior for the model with dual-tone cabin.
Under the hood, Mahindra's new Bolero is expected to pack a 1.5 litre diesel engine, which can churn out 100PS of power and 240Nm of torque and we hear that the engine could be tweaked a little for more fuel efficiency.
Likely to be priced around ₹6 lakh, Mahindra's new-generation Bolero will be pitted against Chevrolet Tavera and Tata Sumo.
Inside the cabin, new Bolero is likely to get a music system with Bluetooth, and USB and aux-connectivity, black dashboard with sliver accent, new gear knob, chrome-lined instrument cluster and three-spoke steering wheel. Other features expected in the model include rear AC vents, ABS and dual front airbags.
