It's been a while since we last heard anything about the new generation Bolero. But now the model is back in the headline, this time through a fresh batch of spy shots from Koyambedu, Chennai.
The vehicle was spotted by MotorBeam and like before, the latest prototype of Bolero is also seen hiding beneath camouflage. Judging from the images, Bolero is likely to have the same boxy shape structure but with changes both inside and outside. Likely to be riding on a hydroformed ladder-frame chassis, the new gen Bolero is expected to come fitted with features like a larger screen infotainment system, three-spoke steering wheel and rectangular AC vents.
Under the hood, the new Bolero is likely to draw power from Mahindra's new engines. Mahindra is developing seven new engines to power its future vehicles, which includes 1.2 litre diesel and petrol motors, 1.6 litre diesel and petrol units, and a 1.5-litre diesel and there is also 1.5 litre petrol and a 1.0-litre petrol engine. Bolero is expected to reach Indian showrooms by the end of 2015.
The year 2015 is also expected to see a new compact SUV from the house of Mahindra. Codenamed S101, the new SUV is likely to be powered by Mahindra's new engine. Mahindra S101, a sub-four metre vehicle is expected to get features like anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, four airbags, and an electronic stability programme.
Mahindra is also working on a LCV codenamed P601. Under the hood, the LCV is likely to get two cylinder 909cc diesel motor, but there are also rumours that a new motor could also be featured.
