A new prototype of Mahindra's next generation Bolero codenamed U301 has been spied undergoing testing in the country.
Mahindra's new Bolero was caught on camera numerous times and the latest one comes from the folks at Rushlane. The test mule is seen heavily camouflaged; however, the new model appears to have used new ladder frame chassis. There is not much we can pull out from the images, but from what we heard, the new Bolero is 6kg lighter than the existing version.
The new Bolero is likely to get Mahindra's new engines. The company is developing seven new engines for its future vehicles, which include 1.2 litre diesel and petrol motors, 1.6 litre diesel and petrol units, and a 1.5-litre diesel and there is also 1.5 litre petrol and a 1.0-litre petrol engine. The company's upcoming compact SUV S101 is also expected to get the engine from Mahindra's new line-up.
Inside the cabin, the new Bolero is likely to get a larger screen infotainment system, newly styled dashboard with a new central console, a new three spoke steering wheel and rectangular AC vents.
Both Mahindra Bolero and S101 are expected to make its India debut next year. Talking of S101 SUV, it is likely to get bench-type seating arrangement at the front and the SUV is expected to pack features like auto climate-control, steering-mounted buttons for infotainment system. Mahindra S101, a sub four meter SUV will take on the likes of Ford EcoSport and upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.
