A new prototype of Mahindra's upcoming compact SUV codenamed U301 has been spied testing. This time, interestingly, the spy photographers have managed to get real close to the interiors of the model.
Mahindra U301, a model called new mini-Bolero was caught on camera numerous times, but this is the first time the interior details of the car were captured, giving auto lovers in the country a clear idea of the design of the new SUV.
Snapped by Autocar India reader Chandra Devi, the test mule which is believed to be the base variant of new Bolero was seen hiding under heavy camouflage. However, the images show the new three spoke steering wheel with a Mahindra logo, two circular chrome-ringed dials on the instrument cluster and dashboard with faux aluminium and chrome finish.
The top-end variant of the model is expected to get steering-mounted controls and automatic climate control. The original publisher of the latest spy shots also revealed that the model will also get Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) gearbox.
Under the hood, the new generation Bolero is likely to include Mahindra's new engines. Mahindra is developing seven new engines to power its future vehicles, which includes 1.2 litre diesel and petrol motors, 1.6 litre diesel and petrol units, and a 1.5-litre diesel and there is also 1.5 litre petrol and a 1.0-litre petrol engine.
U301, a sub-four meter SUV will be riding on a hydroformed ladder-frame chassis and is expected to reach the showrooms by the end of 2015 .The model is likely to come with a price tag in the range of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh.
