Popular UV maker Mahindra and Mahindra has announced the launch of the Xplorer Edition kit for its compact SUV KUV100. The Xplorer kit has been priced at Rs. 50,000 over the KUV100.
Mahindra had showcased this jazzed up version of the KUV100 at the Auto Expo 2016 in February. The Xplorer kit is now available across Mahindra showrooms for purchase. It comes with silver cladding on the front and rear bumper, roof rails and side skirt, black plastic cladding on the roof spoiler, tail lights, rear windshield and black leather seat covers with orange piping. In addition to this, it also comes with the "Xplorer" badge in the headlamp cluster.
Mechanically, the KUV100 remains unchanged and continues to be powered by 1.2-litre mFalcon G80 and 1.2-litre mFalcon D75 engines. While the petrol 1.2-litre mFalcon G80 engine is tuned to churn out 82bhp and 114Nm, the 1.2-litre mFalcon D75 diesel engine can develop 77bhp and a peak torque of 190Nm. Both the engines come mated to five-speed manual gearbox. Mahindra KUV100 returns ARAI-certified fuel economy of 18.15 kmpl in petrol and 25.32 kmpl in diesel variants.
Launched in January this year, the KUV100 is priced between Rs. 4.42 lakh and Rs 6.76 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). Offered in four variants — K2, K4, K6 and K8 — and three sub-variants — K2+, K4+ and K6+, the coma[pct SUV comes in seven exterior colour options — fiery orange, flamboyant red, dazzling silver, aquamarine, pearl white, designer grey and midnight black.
