Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up for the launch of the KUV100 on 15 January, 2016. Ahead of the launch, the company has released a video of the vehicle plying on the road featuring newly appointed brand ambassador, actor Varun Dhawan.
With KUV100, Mahindra aims at young buyers and hopes to create a niche segment filling the sweet pot between hatchbacks and SUVs. The mini-SUV, popularly known by its codename S101, opened bookings from 19 December across all Mahindra dealerships in the country.
Mahindra KUV100 is built on an all-new platform. The compact SUV will be powered by an all-new range of petrol and diesel engines named as the mFalcon. The mFalcon 1.2-litre G80 petrol engine will develop 82bhp at 5,500rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500-3,600rpm.The mFalcon CRDe 1.2-litre diesel engine will develop 77bhp at 3,750rpm and 190Nm of torque at 1,750-2250rpm. Both engines will come mated to a manual gearbox and there are no plans to introduce the AMT gearbox at present.
To be available in four variants, Mahindra KUV100 will feature the anti-lock braking system (ABS) as a standard across all variants. The indigenously developed monocoque SUV gets a sculpted body, high beltline, wrap-around headlamps and short overhangs. The KUV100 will be available in seven colours: Fiery Orange, Flamboyant Red, Dazzling Silver, Aquamarine, Pearl White, Designer Grey and Midnight Black.
Mahindra has already manufactured over 1,000 units of the KUV100, and the first model of the new SUV has also been booked.
