Major utility vehicle manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra will take the wraps off its latest SUV the KUV100 on 18 December. Ahead of the premiere, the company released a teaser image of the upcoming vehicle. The company also started a dedicated website for the KUV100, and it currently shows 'coming soon'.
Code named S101, the mini-SUV which will be positioned below the TUV300, is expected to hit the showrooms in early 2016. Built on an all-new monocoque platform, Mahindra S101 is expected to compete with the likes of Maruti's tall-boy WagonR and Chevrolet Beat.
The teaser image indicates the vehicle's design will do justice to the SUV maker image of the company. KUV100 will have a tall stance and slim grille that will be flanked by new design headlamp units. The teaser image gives a glimpse of the rugged front bumper and skid plate.
Inside the cabin, the S101 is expected to get a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, bench-like seats in the front and a touchscreen infotainment system. It will also feature rear quarter glass mounted door handles like Chevrolet Beat.
Under the hood, the S101 is expected to include 1.2-litre diesel and petrol mills. While the petrol mill is likely to be an all-new engine developed by the company, the diesel mill could be the watered-down version of the 1.5-litre mHawk engine. Both these will be mated to a manual 5 speed transmission, while the option of AMT is also expected to be on offer.
The estimated price for KUV100 hovers around Rs 4 lakh.
