Popular UV maker Mahindra has unveiled its new SUV dubbed KUV100 in India on Friday, 18 December, at an event held in Mumbai.
The KUV100, a mini-SUV that is popularly known by its codename S101, will be launched in India on 15 January at the company's Chakan, Pune-based, plant and the bookings for the new SUV will be open from 19 December (Saturday) across all Mahindra dealerships in the country.
Riding on an all-new platform, the Mahindra KUV100 (S101) will come packed with the company's new engine mFalcon. To be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options, the petrol 1.2-litre mFalcon G80 is tuned to churn out 82bhp and 114NM, and the 1.2-litre mFalcon D75 diesel can develop 77bhp and a peak torque of 190Nm.
To be available in four variants, Mahindra KUV100 (S101) will feature anti-lock braking system (ABS) as a standard across all variants.
At the brand name and engine reveal event, Pawan Goenka -- Executive Director, M&M Ltd. -- said "We are all set to create a new segment with the launch of the KUV100 which also marks our foray into ground up petrol engines. An ambitious project from the very start, the KUV100, is all set to carve its niche amongst first time car buyers with its unique propositions. Mahindra KUV100, an indigenously developed monocoque SUV gets sculpted body, high beltline, wrap-around headlamps and short overhangs. With KUV100, Mahindra targets the young buyers in the country and hopes to create a niche segment filling the sweets pot between hatchbacks and SUVs.
The KUV100 will be available in 7 exciting colours: Fiery Orange, Flamboyant Red, Dazzling Silver, Aquamarine, Pearl White, Designer Grey and Midnight Black.
Mahindra has already manufactured over a 1,000 units of the all new KUV100 and the first model of the new SUV has been booked.
