Mahindra' latest compact SUV, the KUV100, entered the market on Jan. 15. The KUV100 is primarily targeted for the compact SUV seekers in hatchback's pricing. Mahindra started taking bookings for the KUV100 from Dec. 19, 2015, through its dealer network. Apart from this, Flipkart and Mahindra's online selling platform M2ALL has been accepting bookings for all models of the KUV100.
According to the reports, a new booking will command three months of waiting period. The company officials told NDTV that three months of production capacity for the Mahindra KUV100 has already been booked. Both the petrol and diesel variants are reportedly high in demand and the waiting period is the same for both the models. Previous reports also suggested that the colours white and silver are the most sought after and many of the bookings are for these two colors. To address the increase in demand, Mahindra is reportedly working to increase the production of KUV100 to 12,000 units in a span of six months from current production capacity of 9,000 units at its Chakan plant.
Priced between Rs 4.42 lakh and Rs 5.91 lakh for petrol models and Rs 5.22 lakh to Rs 6.76 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune), the KUV100 offered in four variants -- K2, K4, K6 and K8 -- and three sub-variants – K2+, K4+ and K6+. Under the hood, KUV100 packs newly-developed mFalcon engines. The petrol 1.2-litre mFalcon G80 engine is tuned to churn out 82bhp and 114Nm and the 1.2-litre mFalcon D75 diesel engine can develop 77bhp and a peak torque of 190Nm. Both the engines will be mated to five-speed manual gearbox.
