Mahindra Electric is all set to pull the wrap off the four-door version of its small electric hatchback e2o in India on October 21. The bigger version of the e2o – the e2o Plus – was teased earlier in October and is expected to be open for bookings soon.
The e2o Plus has already made numerous appearances on the web through spy shots. The e2o Plus is essentially an elongated version of the two-door version of the electric hatchback e2o. According to the company, the name is an amalgamation of e2o, which stands for energy to oxygen, and Plus for the positive contributions that the car will make in the lives of customers.
While other specific details of the e2o are scanty at this point of time, previous reports had suggested that e2o 4-door version could get a bigger battery than in the current two-door model. The e2o is currently powered by an electric motor that is driven by 48-volt lithium-ion batteries, which can generate 19kW of power at 3,750rpm and 53.9Nm of torque at 0-3,000rpm. It can now attain a top speed of 81kmph.
As far as changes in the new version of the electric car are concerned, it is likely to get a refreshed front end with new grille and there could be minor changes at the rear as well. The car will get elongated rear end to accommodate two additional doors and will now get Mahindra's signature vertical grille at the front
"The e2oPlus is all about positive additions. We have incorporated additional space - something that would delight our customers. We have also added extra range and fast charging, among other very interesting 'pluses'. I am confident that this new model will be a game changer not only in the electric vehicles segment but also among all other categories of cars," ET Auto quoted Pravin Shah, director at Mahindra Electric, as saying.
