Latest buzz doing the rounds in the southern film industry is that Telugu actor Mahesh Babu is set to work with notable director Mani Ratnam in a new film.
According to reports, the film will be a suspense action thriller and will be a Tamil-Telugu bilingual release.
Mani Ratnam, whose last release "Kadal" ("Kadali" in Telugu) sank without a trace at the box office, needs a good film to bounce back in the industry. The director, who is known for his craft, has reportedly planned to do a commercial entertainer.
Buzz is that Mani Ratnam was in talks with Mahesh Babu for the last few months to rope in the actor for his next project. Apparently, Mahesh who was then busy with "1 Nenokkadine" had not given priority to the film, reported Bangalore Mirror.
With "1 Nenokkadine" having released, Mahesh Babu has moved on to his next project in Telugu. The actor, who has teamed with director Srinu Vaitla for the second time post the success of "Dookudu," is busy shooting for their upcoming film "Aagadu."
If reports are to be believed, the superstar of Telugu cinema might start working in Mani Ratnam's film after finishing "Aagadu."
"Prince is keen on working on a fresh topic. Mani sir's movie is an action thriller with suspense forming the core. The scripting is expected to be completed by March. If all goes well, the shooting for the movie will be completed this year itself," a source close to the actor has told Bangalore Mirror.
Earlier, reports had emerged that Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil would be teaming up with Mani Ratnam and work in his next film. However, nothing has been officially confirmed so far.
