Superstar Mahesh Babu and his wife Namrata Shirodkar, who celebrated their 11th marriage anniversary Feb. 10, have opened up about their love affair, wedding and their healthy relationship.
Mahesh Babu first met Namrata during the "mahurat" of the film "Vamsi" in the summer of 2000, and they started dating by the end of the film. "The 'mahurat' meet was very brief. We started dating towards the end of the movie," Namrata told Deccan Chronicle when asked about their love affair.
After dating for five years, Mahesh Babu and Namrata got married Feb. 10, 2005, at a private ceremony in Mumbai. Mahesh Babu says he could not take a break to prepare for his wedding due to his busy shooting schedule. "I was shooting the whole night before for the film 'Athadu.' I finished the shoot and flew down to get married," DC quoted the superstar as saying.
Even Namrata could not take a long break because she had to finish all her assignments before her marriage. "I was busy till the week before the marriage, as I was trying to finish all my assignments. I really had no time. But then all the arrangements were done by my sister and brother-in-law and my parents," the actress said.
Their marriage took place in Mumbai as per Telugu tradition. "Saat pheras. Even though it was a Telugu wedding and the pundits from Tirupati were chanting mantras in Telugu, they took out time to explain each phera to me and my family in Hindi. I felt that was really sweet," Namrata recalled.
It is well known that Mahesh Babu is a complete family man and takes out time from his busy schedule to be with his wife and children. But the actor credits the success of the healthy relationship to his wife. "Namrata is a real person. What she feels is what you get, no frills attached. She keeps me grounded," he said.
Namrata says Mahesh does not talk about his profession at home and she likes his sense of humour. The two will not have any disagreements and if there is anything wrong, they find a practical and logical solution.
