The untitled film will be the first Telugu production venture of UTV Motion Pictures, a popular banner in Bollywood and Tamil films. The Mahesh starrer will be presented in association with Indira Productions.
"We are extremely delighted to commence our journey in the Telugu film industry, which is the second biggest industry in India after Hindi films, with our own production starring Mahesh Babu and director Koratala Siva, a popular writer and director in Telugu with many super hit films to his credit," G. Dhananjayan, Chief, South Business - Studios, Disney UTV, said in a statement.
"We believe in the power of great storytelling and have proven the same in the South with our Malayalam and Tamil slate. Now we venture into Telugu cinema with a story which will appeal to all types of audiences and are gearing up to produce the film on the large scale it deserves," he added.
Mahesh Babu has said that he is looking forward to the experience of working in UTV's first Telugu production. The actor is currently busy with "One-Nenokkadaine", which will be releasing in January 2014. He will soon begin work in Sreenu Vaitla's "Aagadu", which is expected to be launched this week.
Work on the new film with Siva will kick off in July 2014. According to reports, the film's budget will be huge, considering the banner which has produced big hits in Bollywood including "Chennai Express" and "Rowdy Rathore."
The film with Mahesh will be Siva's third directorial venture. He had made his debut with "Mirchi", which turned out to be one of the biggest hits of 2013. The director is expected to begin work on his second film with Ram Charan in the lead, after which he is likely to start Mahesh's film.
Although the director and the lead actor have been confirmed for UTV's first Telugu venture, the female lead, other cast members and technicians are yet to be announced.
