Earthquake tremors were felt in parts of Bihar, Assam and West Bengal on Wednesday. The magnitude of the earthquake is reported to be 5.6 on the Richter scale.
The most severe tremors were felt in Bihar's Katihar. Patna, Madhepura, Khagadia and Lakhisaray districts along with Purnia and Munger also felt mild tremors.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the tremors were felt at 10.21 am in Bihar.
Parts of Assam and West Bengal also felt tremors of the quake. In West Bengal, the tremors were felt for 15 seconds. It is being reported that Bangladesh's capital city Dhaka also felt tremors.
People in the tremor-hit regions rushed to open spaces. No loss to life or damage to property has been reported.
