"Mafia 3," the action-adventure game from 2K Games and developer Hangar 13, has revealed its release date as Oct. 7 in a new trailer titled "One Way Road Story."

The video goes on to reveal why Lincoln Clay, the game's protagonist and a Vietnam veteran, holds a grudge against mob boss Sal Marcano, following his return from the Vietnam War.

The video also reveals that the game will be set in New Bordeaux (fictional New Orleans), which serves as the backdrop for Clay's revenge. Lincoln gathers a team of criminal lieutenants that will help him take on the Italian mob boss' empire

PlayStation blog mentions that the players will be welcomed by "beautiful cars, pulpy dialogue, and a twang of 'Creedence Clearwater Revival'" in the game.

The blog explains how Clay lures his rival Tony Derazio from his well-guarded penthouse and we can see that players have several options for entrapment. Players can opt either for a stealth way to undertake a mission or can go all guns-blazing, but Clay must be alive to carry on the mission, no matter what.

Clay can also call for backup from his lieutenants, when things become too much for him to handle. The report promises that the game will have "player choice" and well "curated soundtrack."

"Mafia 3" had previously announced three editions of this game, namely Standard Edition ($59.99), Deluxe edition ($79.99) and Collector's Edition ($149.99). The Deluxe Edition comes with the game and Season Pass. The Collector's Edition comes with the game, Season Pass, vinyl sound tracks, collectible art book, art prints, and other, unannounced items.

Currently, "Mafia 3" is available for pre-order. 2K is offering three exclusive vehicles and three weapons, including the infamous Tommy gun. The game will be available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
