Putting an end to all speculations, the makers of the upcoming Selvaraghavan movie have finally decided on their lead actress. Confirmed reports from sources close to the industry state that actress Catherine Tresa has replaced Trisha Krishnan in the upcoming movie, which stars Simbu in the lead.
"The makers have zeroed in on Catherine as Trisha's replacement. Since the film is set to go on floors very soon, everything was finalised in a hurry. Catherine will join the sets soon," a source from the film's unit told IANS.
Earlier, rumour had it that Priya Anand would replace Trisha in the upcoming movie. However, other sources claimed that Priya Anand will soon be part of a movie with Simbu, but not the one being directed by Selvaraghavan.
The Selvaraghavan project also features Taapsee Pannu in the lead. Trisha's decision to back out of the movie had surprised many as she had also completed photoshoot for the flick with Simbu and Taapsee. It was reported that Trisha's character was a stylish one. Meanwhile, Taapsee would play a bold and glamorous role and Simbu will be seen as a gangster.
Sources claim that Trisha has opted out of Selvaraghavan's movie as she had committed her dates to Kamal Haasan's upcoming thriller "Ore Iravu" and Sundar C's "Aranmanai". The Selvaraghavan movie was also a much-awaited project as it was Simbu's and Trisha's second project together after 2010 romantic movie, "Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa".
Catherime Tresa's last Tamil release was "Madras" in 2014. It was also her debut Tamil release. The movie had also fetched her Ananda Vikatan Awards and Edison Award for Best Debut Actress last year.
The actress is currently awaiting the release of her Tamil movie "Kanithan" and Tamil–Telugu Bilingual "Rudramadevi'.
