Alia Bhatt, Arjun Kapoor and Varun Dhawan will reportedly team up for Dharma Productions and the recent buzz is that Madhuri Dixit Nene will also join the team. The "2 States" director, Abhishek Varman, will helm the project under Karan Johar's production house.
According to a DNA report, Madhuri will play Alia's mother's role in the flick. Earlier, the "Dhak Dhak" girl had turned down the offer to play Sonam Kapoor's character's mom in the Indian version of "Freaky Friday," which was shelved later.
But if the latest reports are true then it will be interesting to see Madhuri in a mother's character for the first time. She has earlier worked with Karan in "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani," in which she appeared in an item number with Ranbir Kapoor.
"Shiddat," which was earlier titled as "Kalank," will be a love triangle. Alia has worked with both the actors separately and shares a great chemistry on-screen with the two. Also, Varun and Alia have already done a film, "Student of the Year," based on a love triangle, but that film starred Sidharth Malhotra.
It had been reported that Arjun was not sure to sign this film as he was not satisfied with his character in it. "See, Alia and Varun are on board, but Arjun is still mulling over his decision. And here's why. 'Shiddat' is a period drama set against Partition-era Lahore. It is a love triangle between the three actors, but with unequal roles," a source had told DNA.
"Arjun plays the good guy, while Varun plays the anti-hero, which obviously is a better-sketched character with more layers to him. The anti-hero usually gets accolades and audience appreciation and that is Arjun's dilemma. He doesn't want to be overshadowed by Varun's character. He has asked the makers to make some changes in his role and get back to him. While he is interested in the role, he wants more depth to his character to make it stronger," the source added.
