"Slumdog Millionaire" actor Madhur Mittal, who played the role of Dev Patel's elder brother in the Hollywood film, was critically injured after he met with a serious accident in Mumbai last month.
According to reports, Madhur was behind the wheel when he rammed into a truck near Dahisar, Mumbai. While Madhur suffered severe injuries, his friends managed to escape unhurt.
His friends immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was in the ICU for at least 15 days, The Times of India reports. Madhur was unconscious for more than a week and underwent several surgeries.
The 28-year-old actor has now been discharged from the hospital.
"God has given me a second life. It was a narrow escape. I want to send out a message to the youth to wear seat belts, come what may. It could have saved me from what I went through. 70% of my face has been damaged but the swelling will eventually reduce. I am not allowed to talk much either. Hopefully, I shall be fine by November, as I need to attend a workshop and a film festival in Mexico," Madhur told The Times of India.
The actor is known for his performance in Academy Award winner "Slumdog Millionaire". He also won Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for the movie.
Apart from films, Madhur has also participated in dance show "Boogie Woogie".
