Even as Telangana folk singer Madhu Priya (Madhupriya) reunited with estranged husband Srikanth after counselling, her father Pedda Mallesh was arrested by the Uppal police Monday.
Madhu Priya had filed a complaint with the Humayaun Nagar police station and had alleged that Srikanth was torturing her mentally and physically for dowry. On the same day, her father and relatives had thrashed a 30-year-old businessman named Mohammad Nayeem, mistaking him for Srikanth.
Mohammad Nayeem, who suffered head and nose injuries in the incident, was admitted to the Matrix hospital in Ramanthapur. Later, he had filed a case at the Uppal police station. The police conducted an investigation based on his complaint and arrested Pedda Mallesh and three others Monday night, according to Sakshi.
Meanwhile, Madhu Priya has decided to withdraw her complaint and move on with Srikanth after they were counselled by the Humayaun Nagar police. Having reunited with her husband, she has sent out a message that they will live happily and inspire young couples to opt for a love marriage, according to TV9 (click the video below to listen to her statement).
Madhu Priya says she was influenced by her parents' words and misguided to file a complaint against Srikanth, according to the report. However, her contradictory statements have shocked and saddened her parents, who thought that she was trapped by Srikanth. Her father still fears that he might kill her for money.
Madhu Priya dated Srikanth for two years and tied the knot with him after she turned 18. She married him against her parents' wish in Adilabad in October 2015. Within six months, their relationship hit a rough patch with the singer filing a domestic violence case against Srikanth. However, things between the couple are back to normal after counselling.
