American rapper Mac Miller passed away at the age of 26 from an apparent drug overdose on Friday, September 7. According to TMZ reports, he was pronounced dead by the medics at his house in San Fernando Valley.
The incident came to light after a friend of Miller had called 911 to report his drug overdose. It is still unknown what substance he suffered an overdose from at this point.
"The music artist known as Mac Miller died today in his Studio City home. In the late morning of September 7, Malcolm McCormick was found unresponsive....authorities were called and Miller was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:51 (18:51 GMT). At this time, an autopsy is pending and a cause of death has not been determined," the LA County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner said in a statement.
Miller had dated pop singer Ariana Grande for two years. It was reported that it was substance abuse that had ended their relationship in May this year. The American rapper had also helped former girlfriend Ariana overcome her grief after a terrorist attack killed several young fans during her concert in Manchester last year.
Just a day before his death, Miller had tweeted, "I just wanna go on tour." He had also released a music video titled "Hurt Feelings", on the same day. Miller gave an interview a few hours before his death to Vulture in which he talks about feeling "pressure" from his fame and his battles with depression.
'I really wouldn't want just happiness. And I don't want just sadness either. I don't want to be depressed. I want to be able to have good days and bad days," he said in the interview.

"I dont know what to say Mac Miller took me on my second tour ever. But beyond helping me launch my career he was one of the sweetest guys I ever knew. Great man. I loved him for real. Im completely broken. God bless him," Chance the rapper tweeted.
Miller had released "Smaller Worlds" -- his first single on his fifth studio album titled 'Swimming'. The album was released on August 3 to positive reviews. Some of his popular songs include 'Self care,' 'Dang,' 'Best day ever,' 'Knock knock' and 'The Way' featuring ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande.
