Dhanush's Maari 2 is off to an average start at the US box office. The Tamil movie, which has garnered fairly positive reviews, has crossed $50K-mark in North America and performed better than Sivakarthikeyan's Kanaa.
Maari 2 was released to a decent hype on December 21 and has raked in $19,162 from 33 locations. The collection saw a minor dip on Saturday as it earned $11,591. In the next three days, the Tamil movie has collected $9,705, $4,404 and $8,158, respectively. In total, the flick has earned $53,020 in five days.
Whereas the business of Sivakarthikeyan-produced movie is no match to the collection of Maari 2. After earning $1,631 on its opening day, the sports-drama has collected $2,515, $2,476 and $3,798, respectively in the three days. The total collection of the Tamil film stands at $10,420 in four days.
Among the South Indian movies, it is multilingual KGF which is ruling the US box office. The movie was opened with a premiere on December 20 and in six days it has minted $438,513.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth's 2.0 is still being played in the US and has made a total collection of $5,467,063 in North America.
Coming to the Tamil Nadu box office, the tough fight among the four new releases – Maari 2, Kanaa, Seethakathi and Adanga Maru – has not helped any movie to emerge victorious.
