Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam supremo M Karunanidhi is recovering steadily as his fever has come down, party working president MK Stalin said on Friday, July 27.
"The intensity of fever and urinary tract infection has come down. So there is an improvement in his health condition," Stalin said while addressing Karunanidhi's health condition. Reports also claim that Karunanidhi is expected to recover within one or two days, according to News 18.
Anxious DMK party workers heaved a sigh of relief after working president MK Stalin spoke on the recent health update on M Karunanidhi.
The hospital had issued a statement on Thursday and said that there was a "slight decline" in Karunanidhi's health condition.
"He is currently being treated for fever due to urinary tract infection with intravenous antibiotics and fluids. He is being monitored and treated round the clock by a team of medical and nursing professionals, who are providing hospital-level care at his home," Kauvery Hospital's Executive Director Aravindan Selvaraj said in a press release.
Several politicians have visited Karunanidhi's Gopalpuram residence and reached out to the family members to show their support.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Stalin and Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi, enquiring about his health and offered all the help. He tweeted, "Spoke to Thiru @mkstalin and Kanimozhi Ji. Enquired about the health of Kalaignar Karunanidhi Ji and offered any assistance required. I pray for his quick recovery and good health."
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also wished him a speedy recovery. "Concerned about the health of M Karunanidhi. Hope and pray that Karunanidhi Ji recovers soon," she tweeted.
Assuring party workers and supporters that Karunanidhi's health is improving, Stalin took to Twitter and said that his father has overturned "countless obstacles" into accomplishments.
"Karunanidhi has overturned countless obstacles, failures and betrayals into accomplishments. Let's follow his footsteps. Karunanidhi has spent 80 years in public life, 70 years in cinema and arts, 50 years as DMK Chief," Mr Stalin tweeted.
Karunanidhi was earlier admitted to Kauvery Hospital on July 18 for the change of tracheostomy tube -- a procedure where a hole is made in the windpipe to overcome breathing problems.
There have been several death hoax rumours that have made rounds ever since Karunanidhi saw a slight decline in health. The false rumours had made its way online after news broke out that Karunanidhi was being treated by a medical team from Kauvery Hospital in Chennai on July 26, Thursday.
