Nokia had launched the much awaited flagship Lumia 620 smartphone less than a week ago into the rapidly growing Indian smartphone market.
The Finnish handset maker claims that its Lumia 620 is the most affordable Windows Phone 8 OS based smartphone in the global market.
However, Samsung's first generation Galaxy S, released in 2010, still holds a competitive edge over the Windows Phone 8 OS based Lumia 620 thanks to its popular Android OS. But can the NFC enabled low-cost Lumia 620 finally end Galaxy S' reign in India.
Here's a breakdown of specs between the two smartphones:
Display:
Both Lumia 620 and Galaxy S sport 800x480 pixel resolution display, but the former takes the lead thanks to Nokia's exclusive 'ClearBlack Display' technology which helps viewing content in bright sunlight.
Processor:
Lumia 620 packs a dual-core 1GHz Qualcomm processor, whereas its rival Galaxy S packs a slower single-core processor. With a dual-core processor, Lumia smartphone can perform different jobs simultaneously thereby and this helps in using the battery efficiently.
Camera:
In terms of camera specs, Lumia 620 and Galaxy S stand even in this department. They both sport 5.0-megapixel main camera and VGA front camera.
Operating System:
In this aspect, Galaxy S scores some points over Lumia 620. The Samsung device runs on Google Android mobile OS which is the most widely used operating system in the world. The OS holds one of the largest collection of more than 650,000 apps, only second to Apple iOS's 700,000 plus apps collection.
The Lumia 620 runs on Windows 8 OS which was released only a few months ago in the market. The OS only holds a little over 150,000 plus apps.
Price:
Lumia 620 is currently priced ₹14,999, whereas Galaxy S goes for ₹13,850. The price difference is negligible, but with a sub-₹15,000 price tag and peppy dual-colour back panel options, Lumia 620 is sure to be hit among Indian youths.
