Marvel Studios is constantly making progress in establishing itself in several media. The iconic characters of Marvel Comics have already made it big on big screens across the world.
The live-action movies based on Marvel Comics characters Thor, Captain America, Iron Man and others have received such acclaim from both fans and critics that Marvel Studios has built an entire cinematic universe on the franchise, known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
However, the comic book characters are not restricted to only movies. Marvel Studios entered the world of television with "Agents of SHIELD", whcih received tremendous response from fans and viewers.
It encouraged them to experiment further. Now, Marvel Studios have come out with Netflix series "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones", which are being equally praised.
Next, it seems that Marvel is all set to create a television universe of all the superheroes and might come out with a "Defenders" series. Marvel's "Defenders", just like "Avengers", is a team of superheroes.
Another Netflix series, "Luke Cage", is all set to premiere on Netflix this year, and a series based on "Iron Fist" has also been confirmed. There is a significant possibility that all these television heroes will soon make a crossover, including characters from "Agents of SHIELD", and it might lead to the foundation of "Defenders".
Though there has been no such official confirmation yet, Marvel is known for interlinking its characters and coming out with a joint story. It has become a sort of tradition in the MCU, and fans might soon get to see a series with Daredevil, Elektra, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
There have been several hints of such a possibility. "Daredevil" is all set to introduce the character of Elektra, while Lady Sif from the "Thor" movies has already appeared in several "Agents of SHIELD" episodes.
Whether "Defenders" will happen any time soon is still unclear. However, fans are surely hoping to see a new Marvel team, this time on television and the web.
