After making waves at international film festivals, including the recently concluded Melbourne Film Festival 2018, Indian film on human trafficking -- Love Sonia – is readying for release across the country next month.
The film, a collaborative effort from Indian and foreign film production companies, had also created a lot of buzz in Los Angles and London festivals and stars Demi Moore in a significant role in the powerful ensemble cast that includes Manoj Bajpayee, Richa Chadha, Rajkummar Rao, Sai Tamhankar, Adil Hussain, Mark Duplass and Freida Pinto.
The film also introduces Mrunal Thakur.
It is a collaborative effort of Tamasha Talkies and Samraaj Talkies in association with India Take One Productions, Cinemantra & Dynasty Consulting Group.
It is Tabrez Noorani's directorial debut, produced by the Academy Award-nominated producer of Life of Pi David Womark and Tabrez Noorani. Co-produced by Amar Butala and executive producers include Shalini Thackeray, Deepak Nayar and Pravesh Sahni. The Dynasty Consulting Group was instrumental in setting up the movie.
Set for a September 14 release, the film is a hard-hitting story of a 17-year-old girl who risks her life to rescue her sister from a vicious human trafficking network across India, Hong Kong and Los Angeles.
The film that traces the travails of the girl as a powerful storytelling theme has had a lasting impact on audiences globally for the explosive and shocking tale about human trafficking.
The film also won the best Indie Film Award at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2018.
