The student suspected for the fatal stabbing of a 25-year-old man at the University of Southern California campus, Los Angeles, has been reportedly arrested.
Reports state that the suspect stabbed the man, believed to be a faculty member, on Friday night. The deceased was a psychology instructor at the university, the campus paper, The Daily Trojan, reported.
Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) detective Meghan Aguilar said that the authorities were alerted about a victim with multiple stab wounds at around 7:30 (EST) at the 600 block of McClintock Avenue in Los Angeles. "We want to make clear this was not a random act. This victim was targeted by the suspect," Aguilar was quoted as saying by the Los Angeles Times.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Margaret Stewat said that the victim was declared dead after they found him at the scene of the incident.
The police later said that the suspect was taken into custody. However, the identities of the suspect and the victim were not revealed.
The USC campus also tweeted at 6:30 saying, "Police Activity: Police-related incident in progress at Seeley G Mudd bldg. No danger to USC or the community. Stay away from area."
