Bollywood romantic film "Lootera", which began on a low note, has seen a major rise in collections on the second day of its release at the domestic box office.
The film on the opening day collected ₹5.15 crore, which was pretty low as compared to previous releases. The romantic film starring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles was expected to make it big commercially, but the film opened to an average occupancy in theatres.
However, it seems that positive word of mouth from critics and audiences is boosting the collections of the film. On the second day, the film witnessed a 20-25 percent growth in its earnings at box office.
"Lootera", which is called as one of the best films to release this year, has raked in between ₹6-₹6.5 crore on Saturday. The two-day collection of the film is more than ₹10 crore.
Although, the two-day earning is not impressive for a film like "Lootera", the film still has a chance to make it big.
The Vikramaditya Motwane directorial venture has been appreciated by political bigwigs like L.K. Advani and Amar Singh. A special screening of the film was arranged for the BJP leaders in Delhi.
According to reports, Advani, a film buff, was impressed with Sonakshi's acting. "There were very prominent politicians and bureaucrats at the screening. Everyone wanted to know where Sonakshi was. My daughter, poor thing, has been running around promoting two back-to-back releases. She just couldn't be present at the screening," Sonakshi's mother Poonam told IANS.
