Tata Motors launched new compact sedan Tigor and AMT variant to the popular hatchback Tiago in March. The Tiago launched in April 2016 garnered positive response among customers and this seems to have helped pushing the sales of the new models. Both the new models are steadily building healthy sales.

The waiting period for Tiago based compact sedan Tigor is now four to five weeks, reports Autocar India. Top two variants, XZ and XZ(O) are the most in demand. The top end trim is loaded with features such as smoked projector headlamps, alloy wheels, touchscreen infotainment and climate control. The mid-spec XE trim has a delivery time of nearly 20 days.
The company reportedly dispatched 3,011 units of Tigor in March which is a significant number compared to other cars of Tata. Priced from Rs 4.7 lakh to Rs 7.09 lakh ex-showroom Delhi, the Tigor costs nearly Rs 65,000 to Rs 83,000 less compared to rivals that include Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze and Volkswagen Ameo. An aggressive price range prompted customers to look beyond the preferred choices of the segment.
For the Tiago AMT model, waiting period currently stands over a month depending upon the city. Available only in top spec XZA variant with 1.2-litre petrol engine, the Tiago's AMT variant is priced around Rs 40,000 higher to the regular XZ petrol trim.
Tata Motors offers both Tiago and Tigor in petrol and diesel engine options. The Revotron 1.2-litre petrol engine in the sedan churns out 83.8bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 3,500rpm, while the Revotorq 1.05-litre diesel engine is tuned to generate 69bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a five-speed manual transmission (Tiago with AMT as well) and come with multi-drive modes – Eco and City.
