Caroline Pidgeon is no stranger to the London political scene. The City Hall candidate, who serves as the leader of the Liberal Democrats in the London Assembly, stood against Labours Kate Hoey as a candidate for the Vauxhall seat in the 2010 general election and first became a Councillor in 1998, when she was elected to Southwark Borough Council.
But despite her experience in the capital, the Mayor of London hopeful is currently polling behind Ukip candidate Peter Whittle and Green hopeful Sian Berry, as well as Conservative MP Zac Goldsmith and Labour front-runner Sadiq Khan. The latest YouGov survey, of more than 1,000 people in London between 15 and 19 April, put the Liberal Democrat on just 5% on first preference votes.
However, in a video interview with IBTimes UK, Pidgeon argues the findings do not reflect what she is hearing on the campaign trail. With less than two weeks to go before the 5 May vote, the Liberal Democrat outlines her policies on housing, transport and policing.
