Violent Londoner Jason Edwards who punched his ferociously beat his partner like she was a punch bag in lift at Westfield shopping centre in Shepherds Bush has been jailed.
Edwards, 36, of north west London, punched his partner like a boxer, relentlessly cornering and punching his opponent on the ropes during a shopping trip in on 5 February.
During this attack, Edwards punched his partner, who is in her 30s, in the face at least 15 times while her three children stood and watched the two-minute attack.
When the lift doors opened, Edwards was met by a security guard. However, after police were alerted to the attack and arrived at the scene, Edwards could not be located.
The victim did not attend hospital and has since made a good recovery.
He was sentenced on Tuesday (31 March) to two years imprisonment for actual bodily harm at Isleworth Crown Court after pleading guilty to the offence at an earlier hearing.
Detective sergeant Damian Ash said: Shockingly, Edwards attack has been compared to a boxer relentlessly cornering and punching his opponent on the ropes.
For nearly two minutes he struck his partner as if she was a human punch bag, in front of her three children who were helpless to stop it.
Despite reluctance from the victim in revealing the identity of her partner and attacker, we were able to progress the investigation quickly using the CCTV and intelligence available to us.
This case is testimony to our commitment in bringing violent offenders to justice, whatever the circumstance are, even when there is no victim statement provided at court.
